System Engineering Overview

The SANON Stainless Steel Cable Railing System combines structural strength with open sightlines. It uses marine-grade AISI 316 wire rope runs. This open design allows breeze and light to pass freely.

It is the ideal choice for hillside decks, coastal homes, and commercial stairways. Our system prevents cable sag through engineered, field-adjustable tensioners.

Swageless vs. Swaged Cable Fittings

We supply two distinct tensioning hardware setups for global buyers:

  • Swageless Fittings: Fast job-site setup. Installers lock cables with standard hand tools. No hydraulic crimpers needed.
  • Factory-Swaged Assemblies: Machine-crimped under high pressure. Gives a slim, uniform look for large project runs.

Engineering Rules for Anti-Sag Performance

Follow these quick rules to maintain wire tension and pass safety codes:

  • Post Spacing: Set vertical posts no wider than 1200mm (4 feet) apart.
  • Max Run Distance: Limit single cable runs to 6 meters (20 feet) between tensioners.
  • Cable Gap: Keep horizontal wires 75mm (3 inches) apart to pass the sphere test.

Explore complete post fittings at our Cable Hardware catalog.

Horizontal Cable Railing Configuration

Pre-drilled stainless steel posts fitted with 5 to 9 runs of high-tensile 4mm-6mm horizontal wire rope tensioners.

  • Unobstructed horizontal sightlines for panoramic views
  • Swageless & swaged field-tensioning fittings
  • Marine-grade AISI 316 wire rope construction

Provides maximum airflow and transparent viewlines across residential decks and commercial terraces.

Vertical Cable Railing Configuration

Rigid vertical wire rope assemblies pre-tensioned within top and bottom channel framing to meet non-climbable safety codes.

  • Non-climbable vertical safety design for child protection
  • Factory pre-assembled modular frame packages
  • Compliant with strict commercial building safety codes

Prevents ladder-climbing effects, making it mandatory for certain child-friendly or high-rise balconies.

6-Step Mechanical Installation Brief

  1. Anchor end posts and intermediate pass-through baluster posts.
  2. Insert plastic isolator grommets into all post pass-through holes.
  3. Thread 316 wire rope through the intermediate posts.
  4. Attach swageless tensioner terminals onto the end posts.
  5. Tension cables evenly from the center runs outward.
  6. Lock jam nuts and trim excess wire tails.

System-Specific Technical & Procurement FAQ

Expert engineering guidance, compliance details, and B2B procurement insights tailored specifically for this railing architecture.

Do I need hydraulic crimping tools to install this system?

No. Our swageless mechanical fittings lock onto cables using internal set-screws. You only need standard hex keys and cable cutters on-site.

Why is AISI 316 required for cable railings?

Wire cables contain many fine strands with large surface areas. Grade 316 contains 2–3% Molybdenum, preventing crevice corrosion in humid outdoor settings.

How often do cables need re-tensioning?

Under normal conditions, quality 1x19 structure cables experience minimal stretch. A quick check and turnbuckle adjustment once a year is sufficient.

Can cable railing pass the 4-inch sphere code test?

Yes. By spacing horizontal cables 75mm (3 inches) apart under proper tension, the infill easily passes strict commercial 4-inch sphere safety tests.

Can this system mount onto timber decks?

Yes. We supply lag-screw threaded tensioners for wood posts as well as expansion anchor hardware for concrete and steel posts.

What top handrail styles work best with cable posts?

Our posts pair with round or square stainless tubes and timber top rails. See our Handrail Brackets for saddle options.

What is the bulk packaging standard for export?

Cables are wound on 500m wooden spools. Tensioning hardware is packed in labeled internal boxes and secured in seaworthy wooden crates.
